The dry cow period is a crucial stage of the year & nutrition is key to its success. Silage quality can vary greatly, while some silages can also be high in potassium which can lead to metabolic disorders such as milk fever. A Body Condition Score (BCS) of 3.0 is ideal at drying off & needs to be maintained during the dry period.
